What Giving Through Elevate is all about
WHY WE GIVE
Giving is a key theme in the Bible. Jesus talked more about giving than Heaven, Hell, or prayer. Understanding giving is part of being a committed follower of Christ.
Putting God First!
Everything belongs to God. Really, He just loans it to us to take care of for the time we’re here on Earth. Tithing, or giving God the first 10% of our income, is a primary way to acknowledge that God is first. (Proverbs 3:9-10)
Giving Away Leads to Abundant Living!
Giving is a great cure for materialism and leads to a mindset of “abundance” rather than “scarcity.” Where tithing is giving 10% of your income to the local church, offerings are paid out of the 90% of your income. So the offering is considered giving above and beyond the tithe.
By practicing the intentional discipline of giving, the Bible says we not only help those in need, but we also lay the “foundation for the future” and “experience true life.” (1 Timothy 6:18-19)
Test Your Heart, Test God’s Faithfulness!
The only time God challenges us to test Him is in giving. “’Bring all the tithes…if you do,’ says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, ‘I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!’” (Malachi 3:10, NLT)
Investing in Eternity
Investing in the things that matter, sharing the good news of Jesus, and meeting the needs of people, will pay dividends for eternity. Giving to life-giving ministries leverages your money for eternal purposes. (1 Timothy 6:7)
